The Industry’s First Airless Tire

The Industry’s First Airless Tire

November 14 2017

Michelin presents the industry’s first mass-produced airless radial tire, the MICHELIN® X® TWEEL®, on the Russian market. This brand-new innovative product sets Michelin apart from its rivals and highlights the company’s leading position in transport solutions of the future.

One of Michelin’s key objectives is equipping modern vehicles with hi-tech tires that can raise productivity, safety and profitability. Anticipating its customers’ needs, Michelin presents a unique solution, the MICHELIN® X® TWEEL® SSL tire system, for skid steer loaders. Coming to Russia as ALL TERRAIN, this airless tire is the market’s only product that makes sure you have:

 - no maintenance (tire does not require pumping with air; thus, it does not lose pressure)

 - no compromise, (tire provides a consistent footprint coupled with wear resistance two to three times greater than that of a pneumatic tire with equal tread depth. Moreover, it has great stability, which ensures more comfort for the loader operator: the unique energy transfer within the poly-resin spokes reduces the “bounce” associated with pneumatic tires)

- no downtime. (tire ensures the same comfort and productivity as pneumatic tires while minimizing downtime due to punctures and impact damage)

The airless MICHELIN® X® TWEEL® is a rigid wheel hub connected to the tread with flexible poly-resin spokes, thus forming a complete assembly.

This eliminates the risk of puncture typical for working in construction, landscaping, waste recycling and agriculture.

Russia will see the airless 12N16.5 HARD SURFACE TRACTION tire suitable or use on hard surfaces added to the MICHELIN® X® TWEEL® SSL model range in 2018.
